Two years ago Johan
Lei Gellett, former drummer of Kira And The Kindred Spirits,
recommended me to give a listen to a new upcoming band, AIM. Unfortunately
I was not available on those nights they played in the city, so I never saw them
when they still performed under that name. So I took the opportunety after beeing
invited to a concert in Huset by guitarist Adam Olsson. In
2003 AIM won the Danish Award, Live Contest 03, for
best upcoming band. Recently the former frontsinger was replaced by the gifted
and beautiful Veronica d'Souza and at the moment the young band
is recording their first ep. At the same occation they changed their nave to Aimology. They
gave a vivid concert, - more a show rather than a performance, all dressed in
white (a problem for the camera!) and they were all very entusiastic and energic
on stage. In the mid 70's their music fashion would have been called punk,
but nowadays it is merely concidered good power-rock music. Art-punk
may be more exact. The closest comparisation I can recall is with bands such as
The Sounds, The Hives and The Kills. It
was nice to see these youngsters and their energy at stage. I hope that they manage
to transform this energy into the tracks in the studio.
Visually Veronica
no doubt was the focusing point, - a statement which should be proved by the photos
below! I'm
sure that there're a lot of talented bands out there, but not many are that lucky
to have a lead singer with so much stage charisma as Aimology has
in Veronica. A good start for a band which has to compete with so
many bands on fame. So I really believe that Aimology has a chance
for a larger audience if they play their cards well.
Right after the show
I made some band shots in the backstage room. They can be viewed at the bottom
of this page. |
