It's always exciting
to attend a debut performance of new and previously unknown artists. I was present
at the very first concert by Savage Rose in 1968, Monique's
debut in 1992 and several other debuts. Some times you'll never hear from the
artist again, other times they'll become big shots. In a few occations you can
tell already from the very first performance that you face a coming star. My first
impression of Celena Ree's debut at Lades was that
here we have a talent which can't be ignored! I
became aware at the talent of 16 year old Celina Ree by visiting
her profile at myspace.com (see here).
I wrote her, offering her to come and make a live-on-stage photo series when she
made her debut concert. She accepted and below you can see the result.
Celena
Ree possesses a rare stage personality considering her young age. She
sings with a clear vocal, very much like Freya, when she's at her
most rocky style, and Celina's music is more like punk-rock than
pop-rock.
Celina has a very pretty face with a strong
expression, so I couldn't help making a lot of close-up pics. Below you can see
why. After her performance I made a brief, improvised portrait series of her,
- on some of the pictures I played a little with PhotoShop (see at the bottom
of this page). Look
out for this new talent at the Danish rock scene! You can visit her website here.
