First time I heard
Hush was when they supported Freya at the TRAX-concert
at Underværket in Randers on 22. February 2001.
They were the local upcoming duo to have a kind of radio debut at a national Danish
radio broadcast. Since then I have wanted to meet the band live at stage. And
on the second day of the new year I finally got the chance. They played at a local
shopping center in the shadow of the tragic tsumani catastrophe in the South East
of Asia. Thus the concert was postponed half an hour in due to the two minutes
silence, held in memory of the many victims. A very moving moment.
It was
almost a relief to see this relaxed, straightforewarded angel-faced girl performing
these optimistic and uncomplicated contry-pop tunes with her clear and beautiful
voice.
I don't know why, but people from Jutland always seem being so much
more laid-back,kind and lovable compared to inhabitants of the capital! So did
the Hush dou as well. They were extended with a guy, Emile,
at additional acoustic guitar and mandoline, but we got a set of 6 songs from
the debut album, A Lifetime, and one unreleased song, Wild
At Heart, which may be included in the second album from Hush.
One hour prior the the performance they made a public soundcheck playing Sometimes,
also off the album.
Dorthe not only looked like a pure angel,
she sang as one as well. I only brought a tiny tourist camera to take a few
snapshots, but I
got an appointment with Hush to make a professionel live-at-stage
series when they returns to Rødovre (Viften)
on 12. Februar 2005.
