On
the 12th of January 2006 I heard an interview by Kurt Bogø
on P4's Studio 4. The girl he interviewed was unknown to me, but
I really liked the two songs from her debut album, Rays Around The Sun
(realesed on 30. January 2006), which was played in the broadcast. I wanted
to find out more about this new artist, so I contacted Juliet Gough
and asked her where and when she had a concert. This performance at Krudttønden
turned out to be her second concert,
so she's rather new on stage.
Juliet is a very sensitive
artist. Her songs reminds me of American singer/songwriter Jewel Kilcher,
containing the same inner pain and spirituality. Attending a Juliet Gough
concert is like catching a glimse of an angel's inner private life. She seems
so fragile that being out of this world. Her beautiful songs could easily have
been written in the late 60's with it's "flower-power" lyrics,
- very innocent, very feminine. The music is uncomplicated and straight, but sung
by Juliet's angel-voice, they rise above the simple pop tune
to an almost divine level.
