Kira And The Kindred Spirits
Lille Vega
16. April 2004

Kira & Co is definitely the best live band in Denmark today!! 27 year old Kira Amdrup Skov is the best female rock singer of all times in the Danish rock history. I use to appoint Danish singer Monique to be the best singer of this country, and she is, because she can sing anything, elevating it into great Art. But Kira is our best rock-singer, no doubt!

This night at Lille Vega we got a mix of songs from the 2001 debut album together with some new songs. Six songs from the album and eleven new, unreleased songs and one cover-song, - the old Elvis classic, That's Alright Mama in an uptempo rock-punk version.

Kira seemed much happier this night than I've seen her untill now. She seemed really to enjoy herself on stage, and as usual she performed a complete outstanding live show, singing with her entire body. Kira is a female vulvcano at stage! True Woman Power to that extent. She is so reliable, singing out all her pain and power, that you believe what she has to tell, making you surrender completely.
She plays on her sexuality, never becoming vulgar, and thus she appeals to both men and women. Kira is the most visual stage personality on the Danish Rock Scene. She almost overshadows the also very active bassplayer, Orson Wajih, but together they make a very interesting and energic couple to watch. You really got something to the eye at a Kira & Co-concert.
You almost tend to oversee the guitarplayer, Rune Kjeldsen. I've seen Kira and her band playing live several times before, but not untill this night I noticed how a marvellous guitarplayer he is! And the new drummer, Jesper Lind, creates a powerful rock-beat underneath the songs.

Maria Køhnke has left the band to play with Swan Lee at the first leg of their 2004 Spring Tour, being replaced at the keyboards by Nickolaj Torp. He is much more in front in the sound, which is a big improvement. A very tight playing rock'n'roll band!

Kira & Co match a minor club scene like Lille Vega very well, so I wonder how they will do on the big scene at Roskilde Festival this summer. Anyway, it may be their stepping stone to that larger audeince that they certainly deserves! From my view they deserve World-fame.

Enjoy the large selection below off the 585 photographs, I made of the wonderful Kira and her outstanding band.
