This
night Maria Viskonti was bringing it all back
home, performing a full band show at Rust. Now
we got Philip, - the keyboard player -back on
his place, adding exactly that touch of Mid-60's Dylan
/ The Band sound, that I love
about Maria's live concerts. The young,
well-playing band stressed their obvious inspiration from
The Band's sound by giving a nice cover-version
of It Makes No Difference. You could even hear
Jacob playing a Robbie Robertson-like
solo lead-guitar at some gorgeous moments during the song.
Maria has clearly benifitted from being on tour
from August, being much more experienced at stage. She seems
to have overcomed some of her shyness, and was in good mood,
though just recovered from some light illness.
We got one more cover, Jeff Lynne's Every
Little Thing, very nicely performed by the band. I
do not dare to say that it was the highlight of the night
but anyway, it worked out very well. I must admit that the
ballads did't fit so well to the beer-drinking audience at
Rust, going for more power. So in my opinion,
the two ballads (No. 5 and 6) should have been left out (though
I love them on the album!). This night's live-version of Paranoia
showed the way: Starting as a piano piece sung solely by Maria
and ending up as a full band version, it was the true peak
of the concert! A breathtaking moment.
Now it's time for more people to open their ears to this shining
talent on the Danish rock scene!
