This was the first
time I heard a full set of live versions of the songs from Maya Albana's
excellent second album. We got all the album songs, and in addition they gave
one song from Maya's completely overseen debut album, namely
Spell Out The Truth. We also got GBE Interlude (which is
in fact a brief laid-back version of God Bless Education), Country,
which is a song from Maya Albana Trio's repertory and the neo-punked
Generator. Maya sang an unreleased song called Pig.
A song with wonderful lyrics, quote, I wanna be a pig, I wanna suck your cock
..." That's straightforeward poetry, and I love it when song by Maya!
Finally we heard another unrecorded song, Under Your Star, which
for me was one of the highlights of the night. A slow tune, song very passionately
by Maya with closed eyes all through the song. Her husbond, Kashmir's
Henrik Lindstrand played a wonderful keyboard accompaniment to that.
What a nice energy the band radiated, and what a professional performer Maya
is! It's obvious that she loves to perform at stage and Maya holds
this rare quality being rough and cool and sweet and feminine at the same time.
Half of Kashmir backed Maya Albana on stage and the
other half of the band was present in the audience, like several more celebrities
from the Danish music scene, who enjoyed this unforgettable concert. A pity that
the tour is that brief, as many more should have had the chance to see this outstanding
show. |
