Nana Jacobi

Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium, Copenhagen, 13. June 2002

Nana la Cour Jacobi is a very talanted young musician, graduated from Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in Copenhagen. She has created her own music for many years - a very fascinating universe of music which is unique, so it is impossible to make comparisons to other artists' creations. But the music contains elements of both rock, pop, alternative music, country and film music as well.

In 1999 Nana won an award from Statens Kunstfond's competition for young composers, but untill now she is more known for her contribution to the soundtrack album for En Kort En Lang. She sings the often airplayed hit song, Open Sky. This song is written by the also talented Povl Kristian, who created the soundtrack for the film (for which he won an Award at Danish Music Awards 2002). The lyrics was written by Anne Larsson. Both Povl, Anne and Nana are good friends of ours and we have known the three of them for many years. I am sure that she shall succed in bringing her wonderful music to a broader public. It deserves it!

Nana has not yet released any solo projects, but in 2000 she made a promo cd with her band, Gletscher.

It was a wonderful experience to hear Nana sing her own songs - very intensively. But the highlight of the concert was to hear Nana's version of David Bowie's Rock'n'Roll Suicide. This very covered song has never before been delivered with a strengh and intensivity like this night! Nana gave it even better than Bowie himself!
