It's was not included in my plans to see Sodastar at the KulturHavn Event 2004, as I was present to cover Maria Viskonti's set (see photos here!). But luckely I stayed for Sodastar's set as it took place right after Maria's performance.
Please note that Sodastar changed their name in 2006 to Alphabeat!
Though the band was winner of Live Contest 2004 and performed at the Spot Festival, I wasn't aware of their existence untill this day.
They recorded a three-song demo following the Live Contest (see the bottom of this side). But after having seen them live, I must say that they are much better at stage compared to impression you get by listing to the demo!
I was completely fascinated by lead singer Anders's energy during their the stage performance. At start I merely wanted to stay during a couple of the opening songs, but Anders young and happy energy forced me to stay! He was really a charming guy to watch.
In the second song the band was joined by a tiny girl on vocals. Stine seemed a little shy at start, but during the set she let loose, and ended up complementing Anders in a very nice way.

I do not care that you could hear an obvious inspiration by a couple of 1980's bands in the sound. The stage performance was so nice to see that you almost forgot to listen to the powerfull pop-rock! Alphabeat should really concider to release a live album!

Nice to see a band enjoing to play to that extend. Wow, what an energy ...
