Myra Green
- with the talentet Liv Thrane in front - participated in Melody
Make Contest 2005 together with three more Danish upcomers. Though I would'nt
call it a fair contest, as the winner turned out to be the band which got the
majority of the votes among the audience present. Not necessarily the band with
the greatest musical visions. The other bands were: Yaoming,
Mavis and Scam and it showed up to be four very different
bands, impossible to compare, so I merely saw it as a four-band concert event. Myra
Green was no doubt my favorite with the charming, not to say beautiful
and charismatic Liv Thrane on lead vocals. I had heard them earlier
this year (see here),
and this time they seem to have improved as a live band, performing more professionally
and with a rougher sound. The guitarist added some new suitable guitar riffs in
their most wellknown song, Climb The Mountain, and we got a mix
og rocking and more soft songs, - a variety of songs which I like as a concert
consumer. With a little more wildness on stage, Liv might be a reasonable
competitor to Kira Skov! Also a new song, Time,
was added to the set list.
Normally Pumpehuset is one of
my favorite venues concerning both sound and light. Unfortunately most of Myra
Green's show was covered by red spotlight and too much smoke, whiched
made it almost impossible to take prober photographs. Anyway, as stated earlier
I believe Liv (together with Tanja
Appehl) to be among the great upcoming hopes of future Danish talents
at the music scene.
